PlanLocal was employed to enlist residents’ help identifying where to invest infrastructure funding to make neighbourhood streets safer. This participatory planning process was designed to encourage residents to, first, identify unsafe street locations and propose solutions, second, vote for the top safe street solutions, which led to building safer streets through implementation of the chosen priorities. Concrete outcomes included safer streets throughout Ward 2, a clear and trackable priority list for future activities, and finally broader engagement of residents in developing solutions for their communities.
