The Lisgar Play, Walk and Roll project sought to understand how children are active outside, whether it’s walking or cycle to school, or playing in and around their neighbourhoods outside of school hours. The PlanLocal platform was used to survey school-aged parents about their kids’ outdoor activity. The results were used to develop interactive outdoor neighbourhood play maps as well as to audit and promote safe active transportation routes to school. Ultimately making it easier for kids to be active and set life-long patterns of enjoying the outdoors.
