Challenge: Enlist residents’ help to make their neighbourhood streets safer. This participatory planning process was designed to encourage residents to, first, identify unsafe street locations and propose solutions, second, to vote for the top safe street solutions, which led to building safer streets through implementation of the chosen priorities.
Outcomes: Building safer streets throughout multiple neighbourhoods, a clear and trackable priority list for future planning and investment, and finally, broader engagement of residents in developing solutions for their communities.
